Home Composting for Housing Societies
A hands-on session at your society that sets up composting for kitchen waste, so families turn daily scraps into rich compost for their plants instead of sending them to the landfill.
Every day a housing society sends hundreds of kilos of kitchen waste to the landfill. Most of it is vegetable peels, tea leaves and leftover food, which can become rich compost in a few weeks.
In this hands-on session at your society, our team shows residents and housekeeping staff how to compost at home and as a society. We set up a working compost unit with you, so composting starts the same day.
What we cover:
- What goes into compost and what never should
- Home composting in a bucket or pot, for every flat
- A society-level setup for the common kitchen waste
- Keeping compost free of smell, flies and pests
- Using the finished compost in balcony pots and society gardens
Good to know: many cities now expect large housing societies to process their wet waste on site. We help you set up a system your residents will actually keep using.
What participants take away
- Set up a home compost bucket for every flat
- Separate wet and dry waste correctly at source
- Run a society-level compost unit for common kitchen waste
- Keep compost free of smell, flies and pests
- Use finished compost in balcony pots and society gardens
