What you get
Running since 2004, this scheme (including its "Madhyam Gehrayi Nalkoop" medium-depth variant) supports farmers in setting up borewells for irrigation by subsidising the cost of boring, water-lifting equipment and electrification, implemented by the Minor Irrigation Department. It primarily targets alluvial, non-critical groundwater blocks (excluded in over-exploited/critical blocks to protect groundwater) and covers borewells in the 31-60 metre depth range with an assured discharge of around 3,200 gallons/hour. Farmers must first register on the PM-KISAN or Paradarshi Kisan Seva Portal, and after site survey and approval, deposit 50% of the estimated cost before work begins, with the subsidy covering the remainder along with the geotagging of the completed borewell.
