What you get

Approved to help small and marginal farmers in low-rainfall, drought-prone parts of West Bengal — particularly Jangalmahal, Purulia and Bankura districts — the Bangla Krishi Sech Yojana (BKSY) provides drip and sprinkler micro-irrigation systems free of cost. Drip irrigation, which costs around Rs 70,000 per acre to install, and sprinkler irrigation, costing around Rs 20,000 per acre, are both made available to eligible farmers at no charge under the scheme, financed through a state budget allocation of roughly Rs 35 crore. The scheme particularly targets growers of fruits and vegetables, which respond well to controlled, low-volume irrigation and can be cultivated profitably even in areas with scanty and erratic rainfall once efficient irrigation is available.
