It targets small and marginal farmers who need affordable, reliable groundwater access for irrigation closer to the surface, with the department handling site survey, technical approval and partial subsidy of construction costs. Drip and sprinkler attachments are promoted alongside boring to maximise water-use efficiency, particularly important for UP's water-stressed western and central districts.

Eligibility criteria

• Small or marginal farmer in Uttar Pradesh
• Land suitable for shallow/medium-depth tube well as per site survey
• Registered on PM-KISAN or the state irrigation portal
