What you get
This Minor Irrigation Department scheme supports the construction of shallow and medium-deep tube wells, complementing the deeper Free Boring Yojana, and is often combined with micro-irrigation (drip and sprinkler) system subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana framework as implemented in the state. It targets small and marginal farmers who need affordable, reliable groundwater access for irrigation closer to the surface, with the department handling site survey, technical approval and partial subsidy of construction costs. Drip and sprinkler attachments are promoted alongside boring to maximise water-use efficiency, particularly important for UP's water-stressed western and central districts.
