What you get
The Madhugram Yojana promotes apiculture (beekeeping) among Uttarakhand's farmers, providing subsidised bee boxes, bee colonies and basic equipment along with training in honey production and processing. Beekeeping is promoted as a complementary income source for hill and orchard farmers since bee colonies also improve pollination of fruit crops such as apple and other orchard produce common in the state, creating a dual benefit of better fruit yields plus a marketable honey product. The scheme is implemented through the Horticulture Department in coordination with state and central beekeeping development bodies.
