What you get

Launched on 7 April 2018 by the Tamil Nadu government, the Uzhavan ("Farmer") mobile app is a free bilingual (Tamil/English) digital platform giving farmers single-window access to a wide range of services: information on all agriculture scheme components and subsidy patterns, online registration for scheme benefits, crop insurance application and claim status tracking, real-time seed and fertilizer stock availability at government and private outlets, booking of Custom Hiring Centres for farm machinery, daily market (mandi) prices across 277 regulated markets in Tamil Nadu, weather forecast advisories, and scheduling/tracking of extension officer village visits. The app, downloadable free from the Google Play Store, has become the primary digital gateway connecting Tamil Nadu's ~Crore-strong farming population to state agricultural services and entitlements.

Eligibility criteria

• Open to all farmers in Tamil Nadu with a smartphone
• No specific land-size or category restriction to download and use the app
• Some app-linked scheme applications require Aadhaar-linked farmer registration
