What you get

Implemented under the central Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana's "Per Drop More Crop" component, Tamil Nadu's micro irrigation programme — coordinated by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Development Agency with on-ground verification by the Agricultural Engineering Department — provides drip and sprinkler irrigation systems to farmers at heavily subsidized cost. Small and marginal farmers receive up to 100% subsidy on micro irrigation systems (drip/sprinkler), while larger farmers receive subsidy up to 75%, with coverage capped at 5 hectares per beneficiary. Micro irrigation significantly cuts water usage compared to flood irrigation while improving fertilizer-use efficiency and crop yields, making it especially valuable in Tamil Nadu's increasingly water-stressed agricultural districts.

Eligibility criteria

• Must be a farmer cultivating land in Tamil Nadu eligible for the notified crop categories
• Small/marginal farmers eligible for up to 100% subsidy; other farmers up to 75%
• Coverage capped at a maximum of 5 hectares per beneficiary

How to apply
