What you get
Launched on 28 October 2021 as Sikkim's first state-sponsored fisheries scheme, the Mukhya Mantri Matsya Utpadan Yojana provides up to 60% subsidy on the cost of fish seed (fingerlings) for fish farmers and on fishing equipment for fishermen, addressing the financial constraints that previously limited input procurement. The scheme is 100% state-funded and has disbursed approximately Rs 175 lakh to date, directly benefiting hundreds of fish farmers and fishermen each year (369 fishermen and 425 fish farmers benefited in 2022-23 alone), helping raise both fish production and capture fisheries income across Sikkim's rivers, ponds and reservoirs.
