Gives direct cash support to small, marginal and landless farming households to cover the cost of seeds, fertilizer and other inputs, plus support for allied activities like goat-rearing and fishery.

What you get

KALIA was launched on 22 December 2018 to accelerate agricultural prosperity and reduce rural poverty across Odisha. Small and marginal farmer households receive Rs 25,000 per family spread over five cropping seasons (Rs 5,000 per season) to fund inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, as well as labour and other cultivation costs. Landless agricultural households are separately eligible for Rs 12,500 in support for allied livelihood activities such as small goat-rearing units, mini-layer (poultry) units, duckery units, fishery kits, mushroom cultivation and bee-keeping. The scheme also bundled life and accident insurance and interest-free crop loans up to Rs 50,000 for participating farmers. KALIA covers around 92% of the state's cultivators and almost all eligible landless cultivators, with more than 50 lakh small, marginal and landless households benefited to date.

Eligibility criteria

• Small and marginal farmer household in Odisha
• Landless agricultural household, agricultural labourer or sharecropper (actual cultivator)
• Vulnerable agricultural household as identified by the local KALIA verification committee
