What you get

The Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana (Price Difference Payment Scheme) protects farmers from distress sales by compensating the gap between the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the actual "modal" selling price realised in the mandi, whichever calculation is more favourable to the farmer. Launched in October 2017, it initially covered eight oilseed and pulse crops and was later expanded to 13 Kharif crops including soybean, maize, urad, and moong. Farmers register their crop and expected sale quantity in advance on the e-Uparjan portal; once mandi sale records are verified, the compensation is calculated using the modal price benchmark and credited via DBT. In one instance the state government transferred ₹233 crore to over 1.33 lakh soybean farmers under this scheme.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be a registered farmer in Madhya Pradesh growing a notified crop (e.g. soybean, maize, urad, moong, mustard)
  • Must register the crop and expected sale quantity before the harvest/registration window
  • Sale must occur through a recognised mandi (Krishi Upaj Mandi Samiti) or registered procurement centre
  • Aadhaar-linked bank account required

  2. 2
