What you get

Launched in 2007, the Balram Talab Yojana (Balram Pond Scheme) helps farmers construct farm ponds on their own agricultural land to harvest and store rainwater. The stored water can be used for irrigation during dry spells and also helps recharge nearby wells and tube wells, improving overall water availability in the area. The scheme is targeted especially at farmers in rain-dependent and drought-prone districts of Madhya Pradesh, where assured irrigation significantly increases cropping intensity and yields. Subsidy assistance is provided towards the construction cost of the pond, with the exact percentage and cap varying by farmer category (general/SC/ST/small and marginal) as notified by the state from time to time.
