What you get
This state horticulture scheme supports farmers in Manipur's extensive hill districts to establish fruit orchards on land otherwise difficult to cultivate with traditional field crops, leveraging the hill agro-climate suited to crops such as orange, lemon, passion fruit, plum, pear and other temperate and sub-tropical fruits. The department provides quality planting material, financial assistance towards pit preparation, fencing where needed, and follow-up technical guidance for orchard establishment and maintenance, helping convert hill slopes into productive, erosion-resistant horticultural land that generates recurring income once trees mature. The scheme also indirectly supports soil conservation objectives by promoting tree-based cultivation on slopes prone to erosion.
