Implemented by the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) as one of the core initiatives under the broader Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion programme, the Livestock Mission focuses specifically on scaling up livestock-based livelihoods — including poultry, piggery, and dairy farming — across the state's river basin areas. The mission combines capital support for stock and infrastructure with breed-improvement initiatives, veterinary support linkages, and market-access facilitation, working towards reducing the state's heavy dependence on imported meat, eggs and dairy products from neighbouring states by building local production capacity among farmer households and entrepreneurs.

Eligibility criteria

• Must be a Meghalaya resident farmer or entrepreneur proposing a poultry, piggery, or dairy livestock venture
• Project must be located within an active basin development area covered by MBDA
• Subject to project appraisal and approval

How to apply
