What you get

The Horticulture Mission for North Eastern Hill States (HMNEH), a sub-scheme of the central Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) implemented by the State Horticulture Mission in Meghalaya, supports farmers growing the state's priority horticulture and plantation crops — tea, cashewnut, coconut, banana, ginger, turmeric and arecanut — which offer higher revenue returns and encourage permanent, erosion-resistant cultivation on hill slopes compared to shifting/jhum cultivation. Support components include poly-houses, net-shade structures, UV films for protected cultivation, quality planting material and fruit seeds/vegetable seeds, organic inputs and fertilisers, horticulture mechanisation, water harvesting systems, and construction of rural markets to improve farmer access to buyers. Water harvesting units have been constructed at strategic field locations to address dry-spell water shortages for horticulture crops.

Eligibility criteria

• Must be a farmer cultivating or proposing to cultivate an eligible horticulture/plantation crop in Meghalaya
• Land must be assessed as suitable for the proposed crop and structure
• Subject to component-wise subsidy caps as notified under MIDH/HMNEH

How to apply
