What you get
Launched in January 2019 with a target of 1,00,000 off-grid solar agricultural pumps over three years, the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Pump Yojana provides farmers with assured water sources a heavily subsidised solar irrigation pump — the state subsidy covers up to 95% of the cost, with the farmer contributing a small share. Farms up to five acres are eligible for a 3 HP solar pump, while larger holdings can get a 5 HP set. Farmers with an existing conventional grid electricity connection for irrigation are not eligible, as the scheme targets farmers without reliable grid access. The solar PV panels carry a 10-year warranty and the pump system a 5-year warranty, reducing both energy costs and dependence on erratic grid power for irrigation.
Eligibility criteria
- Must be a farmer with an assured source of water for irrigation (well, borewell, river, canal etc.)
- Should not already have a conventional grid electricity connection used for agricultural pumping
- Land holding determines pump capacity: up to 5 acres gets 3 HP, larger holdings get 5 HP
