What you get
Magel Tyala Shet Tale Yojana (literally "farm pond for whoever wants one") is a demand-driven state scheme enabling farmers, particularly in drought-prone and rain-shadow regions of Maharashtra, to construct farm ponds on their own land to harvest and store rainwater for supplemental irrigation. The scheme provides subsidy support towards excavation and lining costs of the farm pond, with special priority given to small and marginal farmers practising climate-resilient and water-conservation-focused agriculture. The stored water helps farmers take a second crop, protect standing crops during dry spells, and reduces dependence on erratic monsoon rainfall, complementing the state's broader water conservation push including the Jalyukt Shivar programme.
