What you get

Implemented from the Kharif season of 2018-19, the Bhausaheb Fundkar Phalbaag Lagvad Yojana is a 100% subsidy scheme to encourage farmers to plant fruit orchards, aiming to raise farmer incomes, generate employment for young farmers, and diversify the state's cropping pattern away from water-intensive field crops towards horticulture. The subsidy covers the full cost of planting material, pit digging, fertilisers and plant protection for approved fruit crops, released across three years tied to survival-rate verification of the planted orchard (a higher share in year one, with balance instalments in years two and three contingent on plant survival). The scheme specifically targets farmers who do not already have an existing orchard and are establishing a new one under the approved crop list and spacing norms.

Eligibility criteria

• Must be a farmer in Maharashtra without an existing orchard on the proposed plot
• Land must be suitable for the proposed fruit crop per horticulture department norms
• Must follow department-approved plant spacing and crop list
• Farmer must maintain the orchard to meet survival-rate criteria for subsequent-year instalments

How to apply

   Apply online through the MahaDBT farmer portal under the Phalbaag Lagvad component

   Submit land documents and selected fruit crop details for technical approval

   Procure approved planting material and complete plantation as per the sanctioned plan

   Year 1 subsidy released after plantation verification; year 2 and 3 instalments follow survival-rate inspection
