What you get
Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana (MBBY) is a dedicated state horticulture-crop insurance scheme covering 46 notified fruit, vegetable, and spice crops against losses from natural calamities such as hailstorm, frost, flood, storm, fire, and extreme temperatures. Farmers pay only 2.5% of the insured sum as premium — Rs 750 per acre for vegetables/spices and Rs 1,000 per acre for fruits — and can receive compensation of up to Rs 30,000 per acre for vegetables/spices and Rs 40,000 per acre for fruits in the event of a covered loss, addressing a major gap left by general crop-insurance schemes that focus mainly on food grains.
