What you get

Under this scheme the Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Department provides up to 85% capital subsidy to farmers for construction of polyhouses (greenhouses) used to grow off-season vegetables, exotic vegetables and flowers. The maximum eligible polyhouse area was expanded from 2,000 sqm to 4,000 sqm per beneficiary to qualify for the highest subsidy slab. The scheme has helped bring over 14 lakh sq. metres of land under polyhouse/shadenet cultivation across districts including Shimla, Sirmour, Solan, Una, Kullu, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Mandi and Kangra. A companion Mukhya Mantri Greenhouse Renovation Scheme (MMGRS) provides up to 70% subsidy to renovate ageing polyhouses, and at least 50% subsidy to replace damaged poly sheets after five years or after a natural calamity.

Eligibility criteria

  • Farmer or horticulturist owning or leasing cultivable land in Himachal Pradesh
  • Land must be suitable for protected cultivation as verified by the Horticulture Department
  • Beneficiary cap of 4,000 sqm polyhouse area for maximum 85% subsidy slab

    Approved beneficiaries construct the polyhouse per departmental specification and subsidy is released against verified construction
