What you get
Gujarat implements the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) at the state level, under which farmers pay a nominal premium — about 2% of the sum insured for Kharif crops, 1.5% for Rabi crops, and 5% for notified commercial/horticultural crops — while the central and state governments jointly subsidise the remaining premium cost. The scheme covers yield losses from natural calamities, pests, and diseases across the full crop cycle from pre-sowing to post-harvest, with claims settled based on yield assessment in the notified insurance unit area.
