What you get
Bihar Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana is a no-premium, state-funded crop-loss assistance scheme run by the Department of Cooperation as Bihar's own alternative to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Unlike a typical insurance product, farmers pay no premium; the state directly compensates registered farmers for crop loss, historically around Rs.7,500 per hectare for loss up to 20% and Rs.10,000 per hectare for loss exceeding 20%, up to a maximum of 2 hectares per farmer. Both landowning (Raiyat) and non-landowning tenant (Gair-Raiyat) farmers cultivating notified Kharif and Rabi crops such as paddy, maize and soyabean can register.
