What you get

Tamil Nadu's Organic Farming Promotion Scheme, run by the Department of Agriculture through the TNAU Agritech extension network, supports farmers in setting up vermicompost units and other on-farm bio-input production infrastructure, alongside training in organic cultivation practices, biofertilizer application and integrated nutrient management. The scheme is part of the state's broader chemical-free farming push, which under the Chief Minister's "Mannuyir Kaathu Mannuyir Kaappom" (Soil Health Protection) initiative allocated Rs 206 crore with an initial Rs 20 crore in 2024-25 for distributing green manure seeds covering 2 lakh acres benefiting 2 lakh farmers, helping reduce dependence on synthetic fertilizer while improving long-term soil fertility.

Eligibility criteria

• Must be a farmer cultivating land in Tamil Nadu interested in organic/chemical-free practices
• Vermicompost unit subsidy typically requires minimum land holding as per scheme guidelines
• Green manure seed distribution targeted at notified scheme-coverage villages/acreage

How to apply

   Apply at the Block Agriculture office or via Uzhavan app for vermicompost unit subsidy or green manure seed

   Set up the vermicompost unit as per department specification after sanction

   Attend organic farming training sessions conducted by TNAU/Agriculture Department extension staff
