What you get
Launched by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, the Mukhya Mantri Pashudhan Samridhi Yojana introduced India's first-ever Pig Production Incentive Scheme (PPIS), administered by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services to uplift pig-rearing households economically. Farmers who rear more than twenty pigs are eligible for an annual cash incentive of Rs 1,00,000, intended to encourage commercial-scale piggery as a stable rural income source and reduce Sikkim's dependence on pork imported from outside the state. The first phase of the scheme was backed by a state allocation of Rs 5 crore, with verification of herd size and production carried out through Self Help Groups, FPOs, VLW Centres, cooperatives, SIMFED and DACS before incentive disbursal.
