What you get
In response to declining large cardamom productivity from disease (chirke and foorkey viral infections), climate stress and Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) risk in cardamom-growing belts, Chief Minister P.S. Tamang has led a mission-mode initiative to revive large cardamom cultivation across Sikkim. The mission combines disease-free planting material distribution, technical advisory on replanting and shade-management practices, and risk-mitigation planning for GLOF-prone cardamom-growing watersheds, recognizing large cardamom as one of Sikkim's signature export crops and a critical income source for hill farmers. Strategic planning meetings convened by the Chief Minister bring together the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Disaster Management departments to coordinate the revival effort.
