What you get
The Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan is a flagship water conservation mission aiming to make villages across Rajasthan self-reliant in water through community-driven construction of farm ponds, anicuts, check dams, percolation tanks and other water harvesting structures. Since its launch the mission has supported the construction of over 4 lakh water harvesting structures statewide, directly benefiting farmers by improving groundwater recharge, extending irrigation availability, and reducing dependence on erratic rainfall in Rajasthan's arid and semi-arid districts. The programme works through gram panchayat-level planning with technical support from the Water Resources Department, NGOs and corporate CSR partners, and farmers can request structures be built on or near their land through village-level water-budgeting exercises.
