What you get
Conceived as a people's movement to protect the Narmada river and promote afforestation, soil conservation and organic farming along its banks, the Namami Devi Narmade campaign provides direct financial support to farmers who undertake tree plantation on their private land within the river's buffer zone (within 1 km of the riverbank). The state government pays farmers ₹20,000 per hectare per year for three consecutive years as compensation for taking up plantation instead of conventional cropping, helping protect livelihoods while restoring riparian ecology. The scheme also encourages organic farming practices and soil and water conservation measures in the corridor.
