What you get
Kerala's Coconut Development Programme supports coconut farmers — historically the state's most widespread tree crop — with subsidies for replanting senile/disease-affected palms with high-yielding varieties, integrated farming practices (intercropping with banana, pepper, tubers, or livestock within coconut gardens), plant protection support against pests like rhinoceros beetle and red palm weevil, and group-based farming through Coconut Producer Societies / Coconut Producer Federations for collective processing and marketing of copra, coconut oil and other value-added products. The programme works in coordination with the Coconut Development Board and Kerala Agricultural University recommendations to help reverse declining coconut productivity in the state's traditional coconut belt.
