Through its soil testing laboratories, the Directorate of Agriculture, Goa offers farmers free or subsidised soil sample testing and issues a Soil Health Card detailing nutrient status and fertilizer/lime recommendations specific to their land. This advisory service helps farmers apply the right type and quantity of fertilizer, improving yields while reducing input costs and environmental impact from overuse of chemical fertilizers.

Eligibility criteria

• Must be a farmer cultivating land within Goa
• Soil sample must be collected as per the department's prescribed sampling method

How to apply

   Collect a soil sample from your field following the guidance of your local agriculture extension officer

   Submit the sample at the nearest government soil testing laboratory

   Laboratory analyses the sample for key nutrients and soil parameters

   Receive your Soil Health Card with crop-specific fertilizer recommendations
