About this Scheme

PM-KISAN was launched on 24 February 2019 to address the financial distress of small and marginal farmers across India. Rather than routing support through intermediaries, the government chose Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into farmers' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, eliminating leakage and ensuring every rupee reaches the intended beneficiary.

To supplement the financial needs of all landholding farmers, enabling them to meet expenses related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs.

What You Get

Eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each, transferred directly to their bank account every four months. Since launch, over 11 crore farmer families have received benefits worth more than ₹3 lakh crore.

Important before applying

The land must be in the farmer's name in government land records. Institutional landholders, government employees, income-tax payers, and persons holding constitutional posts are excluded.
