About this Scheme
PKVY was launched in 2015 to promote organic farming at scale in India. The scheme recognises that transitioning from chemical to organic farming involves a 2–3 year period where yields temporarily dip. PKVY subsidises exactly this transition period, forming clusters of farmers to achieve economies of scale for PGS-India organic certification.
To promote organic farming through cluster approach and PGS certification, leading to soil health improvement, farmer income enhancement through premium prices for organic produce, and reduced input cost dependency.
What You Get
₹50,000 per hectare over three years. The money is disbursed in components: ₹31,000 for on-farm organic input production, ₹8,800 for cluster organisation and certification, ₹3,000 for value addition and packaging. Free PGS-India certification unlocking 20–30% price premium in organic markets.
Important before applying
This scheme operates through groups of 50 farmers working on a contiguous cluster of 20+ hectares. Individual farmers cannot apply alone — you need to form or join a cluster. Contact your local Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) or Agriculture Department.
